DataBlaze v. 2.7 By Sherry Mackiewicz
This program was written using GFA Basic 3.5E, and AutoZeST by D. Becker.
It is distributed as Emailware. The author cannot be held responsible for
lost or damaged data.
This is an upgrade from v.2.5, which would not run correctly as a desk
accessory, and also had various flicker problems. Also new in this
version are a continuous record count, better screen updating, and
more.
This program can be run as either a program or an accessory. Its purpose
is to keep track of email addresses so that you don't have to remember them
and type them in all the time. When you tell this program to "send",
the entire email address, including a carriage return and linefeed, is
sent. Up to 500 Email addresses can be stored. I picked it because it is
a nice number. If you'd like the program set up to eat less ram, send me
some mail.
Search-asks you for a string to search on. For example, if you wanted
to send mail to your brother Billy, You'd click this and type "Billy".
DataBlaze will then show you the first record that contains that string.
If no matches are found, you'll be told. If more than one record is found,
you can see the next one by using "Next". If you pass one up, you can use
"Previous". When you are done searching on one string, you must click on
the right mouse button or click "Next" until the last record in order to
start a new search.
Create-this is how you add records to your data.blz file. (if you don't
have one, the program will create one for you). The .blz file must be kept
on your root directory.
Edit-This is how you change records. The program will prompt you to
give it all the information over again. If you want to change nothing,
just hit return three times. I am not sure if this will keep the previous
information if you change any of them, however.
Delete-use this for someone you won't be sending any more email to.
Next-if you have more than one record that contains the search string,
you can see them all by clicking on this. If you accidentally pass up the
one you want, then click on Previous.
Send-when the person you want to talk to's record is showing, click on
this button, and the program will type in the address, along with a
carriage return and linefeed. Then, just continue sending the mail as
normal (usually with the subject line as the next thing you type). It
might be prudent to mention that you should have already typed "mail" and
a space before invoking DataBlaze...
.
Help-Pops up a help screen until you click on "Enough"-(Still says v.2.5)
Info-shows the author's email address until you click the mouse again
Quit-sometimes finicky. You may have to click on it twice.
Chain-for sending the same mail to more than one person on a UNIX system.
will send out the address and a space. To start a new search, click
the right mouse button. IMPORTANT-do not click on chain for the last
person in the chain. Click on Send instead!! Also, chain is finicky and
sometimes doesn't like to work with the previous command...
What was new in version-2.5-
Editing, the previous function, the help screen, the info box, and the
chain command. DB can now be run as either a .prg or .acc.
New user interface.;) 10 char. maximum for First name, 10 for last name,
and 108 for e-mail addresses. Got rid of an annoying white line...
